All About Colitis

Colitis is a chronic disease that is responsible of the inflammation of the colon. It causes some sores in the top layer of the large intestine’s lining. The colitis usually does not affect the small intestine. The only part of the small intestine being affected is its inferior portion which is called the ileum.

Identifying colitis can be a very hard task because all the symptoms are similar to those of internal chaos and also Crohn's disease. Crohn's disease is different from other diseases as it can lead to severe irritation is the inner portions of the intestines and it may also affect many other parts of the digestive system.The inflammation results in the colon being frequently empty. This eventually results in diarrhea. The sores or the ulcers are basically formed in those parts where the colon cells have died due to the inflammation. These ulcers then bleed and form pus. It may also lead to an abdominal pain, bleeding in the rectum, fatigue, diarrhea, spasms, loss of appetite and fever. This also results in irritable bowel syndrome.There are many factors leading to Colitis. One of the main reasons for colitis is the problem in the genes. This disease can be more severe if a parent suffers from this. The irregularities of the impervious system can also lead to colitis. Many doctors believe that frequent dieting and anxiety may also result in ulcerative colitis and Crohn's sickness. Also the surroundings of a person largely contribute towards this. Factors like pollution and adulteration can also cause colitis. This leads to affecting the microbes of our body and hence making the body more prone to sickness. Therefore it is always preferred to be in bacteria free areas.The treatment for colitis basically depends on its seriousness. You can either be cured by medication or even surgery. Surgery is considered to be the only cure for the ulcerative colitis. Everyone may have different colitis, so the treatment depends on your needs.
