Eye Stye Infection Treatment

Eye Stye is a bacteria-infected localised inflammation of the upper or lower eyelid. An infection bacterium is transferred from one hair shaft to another.

Styes are usually harmless. It is contaginious disease. The eye stye is a small abscess of the glands in the eyelids which can occur externally and internally. They can occur at any age. Eye stye is seen for the several days. This disease does not affect the vision. Styes may be red and sore. They will fill with pus then burst spontaneously.   • Staphylococcal organisms eyelid infections
  • By using mascara, eyeliner and other eye products
  • Infection of oil secreting glands and infection of staphylococcal bacteria
  • Infection of the hair follicle of an eyelash
Symptoms of Eye Stye
  • Difficulty to open the eyes in bright light
  • Swelling in the eyelid
  • Red bump on eyelid
  • Discomfort when blinking
  • Tearing of the eye
  • Blurred vision of the affected eye
  • Mucous discharge in the eye
Treatment of Eye Stye
  • Boil 1 teaspoon of coriander seeds with a cupful of water like an herbal tea preparation to wash the eyes 3-4 times a day.
  • Wet a tea bag. Place over your eye for 10 to 15 min. The tea will draw the stye.
  • Antibiotic creams may help recurrent or persistent styes.
  • Guava leaves warmed and placed on a warm damp cloth and then used as a compress, reduce the redness, pain and swelling.
  • Surgical drainage of the stye may also be necessary if the stye is not responding to treatment
