This Is Not A Fairy Tale
If you don't mean it then don't say it.
This article is not a "Once upon a time" fairy tale so it may not have a lived happily ever after ending. Most lonely people have turned to the Internet in hopes of finding romance, friendship and in many cases a relationship leading to marriage. When we meet someone online we seldom know very much about him or her and visa versa. It upsets me to no end whenever I hear about someone being driven to suicide because of remarks someone else made to them. Such a tragedy actually happened to a young lady on MySpace. We have no possible way of knowing someone's mental condition all the time. A few kind words spoken to someone everyday can build his or her ego up high enough to soar with the eagles , while a few barbed remarks even when made in fun can destroy a person. This is not just idle gibberish I have seen it happen before. The young lady in question met someone on MySpace and carried on a good online relationship for quite sometime. Then suddenly one morning the young lady was told she was no good and the world would be a much nicer place without her. The young lady became very distraught and later that morning committed suicide. I ask each of us to choose words wisely we use to convey our thoughts to others. I'm sure we have all made remarks at some point in our lives we wished we could take back. If we really have consideration for others we care about we will be less prone to damaging their feelings and possibly ruining their lives.
